Urban Wildlife Project

The Urban Wildlife Project is a lottery funded project devised and delivered by Birch Forest Schools in partnership with the Thornton Lodge Action Group (TAG)

The aim of the project is engage the local community in this essentially urban area in the development of its green spaces.

The project is open to young people aged 8 to 12 though younger children do participate if with an older sibling and rund every two weeks on Saturday mornings.

There are also scheduled family days open to all which initially are used to promote the work of the project, encourage participation and celebrate its achievements.

Through planting and habitat creation/conservation work, the project plans to improve the greenspaces in the area for wildlife and raise awareness in the local community around issues such as littering, fly tipping and dog fouling.
