Babes in the Woods

“If you go down to the woods today you'll never believe your eyes...”
Jimmy Kennedy
CHildren at Forest School

The Babes in the Woods project is a partnership between Marsden and Slaithwaite Renaissance and Slaithwaite Playgroup and Toddlers (SPLAT).

The project is the outcome of a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund by Marsden and Slaithwaite Renaissance and aims to provide regular Forest Schools provision over the next year to parents/ carers and pre-school children.

Sessions will run on Thursday mornings, 9.30 a.m. to 11.45 a.m. during term time with additional family sessions in the holidays.

For further timetabeling information see the Events calendar.

  • Activities will include:
  • Shelter building,
  • Storytelling
  • Making activities
  • Basic campfire activities
  • Games
  • Environmental awareness

The sessions will take place in Upper mill wood in the heart of Slaithwaite and will be available initially on a first come first served basis with the upper limit for attendees being 25.

Owing to health and safety considerations, parent/ carer to child ratio will be set at no more than two children per parent/ carer.

"I love your way of engaging children (and parents!), it’s gentle and very effective. I love the use of stories and so do the children, who remember them afterwards. "
